Gear Review – The Badlands Velocity Jacket

The Velocity jacket was the first piece of Badlands apparel that I got my hands on.  Actually, my Velocity jacket is a pre-production prototype, but I don’t think the design changed much for production.  This jacket is what got me excited about the Badlands apparel line and convinced me to invest my money in purchasing more clothes from Badlands.

The Badlands Velocity Jacket

There is a lot to like about the Velocity jacket – the generous pockets, the grip strip and draw string at the bottom of the jacket, the adjustable cuffs, etc.  But my two favorite aspects of this jacket are the fit and the materials.

If you don’t see the video above, please watch it here.

Badlands nailed it with the cut of this jacket.  There is ample room in the shoulders, which provides a generous range of motion for drawing a bow, but the jacket is more tailored in other areas to reduce bulk.  Badlands also articulated the cut of the jacket around key areas of movement, such as the elbow joints.

The softshell material used for the outer shell of the Velocity jacket is quiet, provides some stretch to move with you, and is water resistant.  The inside of the jacket is comprised of two different types of fleece, which are strategically placed to keep your core warm.

The Velocity jacket, like many of the other pieces in the Bio-Thermic line, is treated with Badlands’ Scent Reduction System, which I have found to be quite effective.

If I had to pick the most versatile, functional, best performing items out of all of the Badlands apparel, it would definitely be the Velocity jacket and Momentum pant.  Check ’em out!
