New for Field & Stream: “Pitch Tents, Punch Tags”

I have been published in Field & Stream.  I still can’t believe it, but it showed up in my mailbox, so it must be true!

The article, “Pitch Tents, Punch Tags”, is about camping strategies for hunting elk during archery season and features some great advice from Steve Speck.  Be sure to check it out in the September 2014 issue.

I have to say thank you to the editorial crew at F&S for giving me this opportunity and teaching me so much along the way.  And this would have never happened without the supporters of this blog that inspire me to keep writing – so THANK YOU!

Awesome! Heading out to find a copy today!

  • Al Quackenbush

Congratulations Mark! You’ve come a long way in a short amount of time. I can’t wait to read this and your article once you get an elk this year!

  • Michael Holloway

    Very Cool! Congrats Mark.

  • Brent Cramer

Congrats to you Mark! I have used your strategy in the past and I am referring to it for this year. Thanks for the posts!

  • Sam Jolman

Congrats! You deserve it. They made a great choice in publishing you. You’ve got an obvious (and helpful) passion for this.

Are you familiar with Chris Rowe? If not, you need to be. He is a big game biologist who offers hunting advice on animal behavior. His stuff has helped me SO much in the field. Google him and you’ll find his website.

Congrats, Mark, looks like a great article. I just ran out to get a copy of F&S. The September issue with a muddy ATV on the cover didn’t have the article in it. What’s wrong?

    • Jarrod reno

Yeah it’s not in my sept issue either :/

Hey guys, sorry for the confusion. Apparently F&S does some “targeting” and, for examples, shares less elk content in areas where elk hunting isn’t in demand. Even still, I’m in MO and we get all of the elk goodness. (And elk is just an example; they do this with other topics, too.) Where are you guys located?

        • Joemyxplyx

I’m in Ohio Mark. We’ve got elk in Tenn & Ky so we should have some elk content.

  • Aaron Farley

Awesome man! Well deserved and the first of many I’m sure.

  • Donnie

I was flipping thru my copy yesterday and recognized your name. I thought to myself, I “know” that guy! Congrats Mark!

  • Tom Ryle

    Well done!
