PHOTO – Boots On The Ground

Here I am at work – my clothes are all about business, but my shoes are all about elk - I am breaking-in my brand new Lowa “Tibet” boots by wearing them around the office today.

Lowa Boots in the Office

In my opinion, the single most important piece of gear that I’ll be taking on my elk trip will be boots.  Elk hunting is all about covering ground, and when you going to be living in the backcountry for a week, then you have to take care of your feet.  From scouting new spots, to locating game, to getting in range for a shot, to packing out an elk – your boots are your lifeline in elk hunting.

Those look business class to me.

Nothing says, “taking care of business”, like rocking elk hunting boots in a meeting, right?

I agree, Mark. Take care of your feet and your hunt will be great. Don’t take care of them and you’ll be miserable. Way to take care of them!!

How did you decide on the Lowa Tibets? I’ve been looking at these as well. What others did you consider?

Aaron – The short version of the story is that I decided upon the Lowa’s after a TON of research. I considered numerous options from folks like Meindl, Kenetrek, Hanwag, Crispi, etc. – basically all of the big name players that you see in the backpacking and western hunting circles, but I am really glad that I went with Lowa. That isn’t to say anything bad about the others – I am sure they make some fine boots – but I am extremely impressed with the Tibet’s so far. I’ll definitely be posting a full review of them down the road, but in the meantime please let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you.
