For the past several months I have been researching, practicing, and tinkering with shot execution – specifically focusing on proper release technique. I, like many of you, have always shot an index-finger caliper release, but I began playing with a handheld thumb-trigger release and it has been quite an experience.
Regardless of what type of release you use, if you want to learn more about proper release execution, you have check out this seminar from the ATA show. In this video, several professional target archers and bowhunters discuss their techniques and methodologies for a proper release.
Thanks to Bow Junky for capturing this seminar and sharing the video. And a huge thank you to Scott Archery for putting this seminar together! Scott revealed their new Exxus thumb-trigger release at the ATA Show; I had a chance to shoot it and I immediately fell in love with it. I’ve shot several high quality thumb releases, but none of them have been as comfortable or adjustable as the Exxus. I’ll definitely be shooting one this year!
