I want to take a quick minute to let all of my readers know that my latest article for the Filson Life blog has been published.

One area of research that fascinates me is how spending time in the outdoors affects our lives in various ways. Research suggests, and my personal experience confirms, that spending time in nature is good for our mental, physical, and spiritual lives.  Spending time outdoors is good for all of us, but it is especially beneficial for children.  We live in an era in which most kids spend considerably more time exploring the internet than they do exploring the great outdoors.  I think that needs to change…

    You hit the nail on the head with this one. I love the chances I get to take my kids outdoors with me. The one thing I’ve learned recently is that when the kids are with you, forget about doing your own thing. If it’s fishing, leave your pole at home. Focus on helping and teaching the kids. It saves a lot of frustration and they get much more benefit by having your full attention.
