The subject of the latest photo prompt from the Outdoor Blogger Network is “your favorite piece of outdoor gear.” To me, this photo prompt is a bit like playing the game where someone asks you what item you would take with you if you knew you were going to be stranded on a desert island. It is an impossible choice! You could go for something meaningful/sentimental, you could go for something that is practical for survival, you could go for something that makes you comfortable, or you could pick something else for a million different reasons.
I wanted to pick my bow, simply because it is my most “important” item. I wanted to pick my Zippo lighter that my Grandpa gave me, because it has great sentimental value. I wanted to pick a dozen other things, all for different reasons.
So, what did I pick? My latest knife, the Benchmade Activator +. This isn’t my favorite piece of gear ever, and it isn’t the one thing I would grab out of my house if it were burning down, but it is currently my favorite piece of outdoor gear.
As I have mentioned before, I am a huge fan of Benchmade knives, and the model #201 “Activator +” is no exception. This is a knife that I had eyed for a long time before purchasing, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I will save all of the details and specs of this knife for a review to come, but for now let me just share some photos. After all, this increasingly long-winded post is supposed to be a photo prompt!
